Graduate of the Faculty of Mining at the Silesian University of Technology. He has many years of experience in the management of commercial entities and fulfilling supervisory functions in them.  Chairman of the political party New Left (Polish: Nowa Lewica) in Katowice. As a Deputy Mayor of Katowice City he is responsible for social policy. 

Privately, he is married to Dorota and has one son Mikołaj.
