Mirosław Nizio

Architect, Sculptor, Owner, Nizio Design International

is an architect, sculptor and cultural patron, and the founder and principal of Nizio Design International. He is a leading expert with decades of experience in the design of public spaces, including architecture, museums, permanent exhibitions, historical displays, memorials, monuments of remembrance, as well as comprehensive revitalisation concepts for post-industrial sites and urban areas.

Mirosław Nizio is widely recognised as one of Poland’s most prominent architects specialising in public and cultural spaces. In 2006, he was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for his work on the permanent exhibition of the Warsaw Rising Museum. For his contribution to the creation of the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, he received the Bronze Medal “Gloria Artis – Merit for Polish Culture” in 2015.
In 2024, Mirosław Nizio was honoured with the prestigious SARP “Bene Merentibus” Medal, awarded for outstanding achievements as a patron of culture and for promoting architecture and art as essential disciplines in the development of contemporary society.
In 2025, the Mausoleum of the Martyrdom of Polish Villages in Michniów, designed by Nizio Design International, received the First Prize in the 29th edition of the “Polish Cement in Architecture” competition. The studio also recorded a series of significant international successes in the preceding year. The Interactive Centre of Fairy Tales and Animation OKO was nominated for the EU Mies Award 2026, having previously won The un Design Award, presented by the International Competition Association (ICA) to honour the most innovative architectural projects worldwide.
Another project by the studio, The Gateway of Civilization and Progress, was awarded Second Prize in the international Mujassam Watan Urban Sculpture Challenge 2025, organised as part of Saudi Arabia’s cultural transformation programme and Vision 2030 initiative.

Nizio Design International’s portfolio includes the design and realisation of the permanent exhibitions at the Warsaw Rising Museum and the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews; the architectural and exhibition design of the Mausoleum of the Martyrdom of Polish Villages in Michniów; the architectural design of the Interactive Centre of Fairy Tales and Animation OKO; the Ulma Family Museum of Poles Saving Jews during World War II in Markowa; as well as the revitalisation of the former “Julia” Hard Coal Mine in Wałbrzych, transformed into the Old Mine – Science and Art Centre.
Currently, Mirosław Nizio is overseeing the implementation of the Blessed Father Jerzy Popiełuszko Museum in Okopy, as well as the recently commenced expansion of the Warsaw Rising Museum.
